The NMSU Art Museum is pleased to present On the Edge, an exhibition that traces the trajectory of Shirley Crow’s career, exploring an artistic practice grounded in a lasting sense of wonder about the mysteries of the universe. Spanning nearly fifty years, and including pastel, ink, graphite, and oil, Crow’s work invites viewers to experience her intuitive visual language informed by the magic of creativity and an ongoing questioning of our existence. Opening reception for Shirley Crow: On the Edge is on October 16 from 5:30-7:30 pm, and will be on display through July 17, 2027.
The NMSU Art Museum proudly presents Marietta Patricia Leis: Breathing Lessons, a major career retrospective by renowned New Mexico-based artist Marietta Leis. The exhibition reflects Leis’s exploration of color, time, movement, and place across a diverse range of media, including: video, painting, photography, sculpture, poetry, and sound. Opening reception for Marietta Patricia Leis: Breathing Lessons is on October 16 from 5:30-7:30 pm, and will be on display through March 6, 2027.

Annual Artist in Residence Exhibition featuring Marie AlarcónAlbuquerque, NM / Harwood Art Center is pleased to present Papi León and Friends by 2026 Artist in Residence, Marie Alarcón. For Papi León and Friends, Artist in Residence Marie Alarcón worked with local artists, through a series of community workshops on the construction of “diasporic deities.”These deities act as placeholders for the diasporic and their lost links to ancestors. The work in this show reflects the process of creating space for these deities in their various forms. Alarcón’s deity, Papi León, is part pirate, part cannibal, and part zombie, an artifact of the three nationalities in Alarcon’s Filipino, Puerto Rican, and Haitian ancestry. Viewers can also watch Alarcón’s Apocalypso, a film made between New Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Unearthing Futures / Desenterrando Futuros explores contemporary earthen artworks, establishing a profound dialogue between regional roots and global perspectives. As visitors engage with the exhibition, they embark on a journey through time, examining the intricate relationship between humanity and the elemental material of unfired earth.

The Albuquerque Abstract Artists Alliance's art exhibit, ¡VIVA! ABSTRACCIÓN BURQUEÑA: Abstracted Visions of Life in Albuquerque, from Fri., Oct. 13, through Fri., Nov. 20, 2026, at La Fonda del Bosque Restaurant located at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, 1701 4th St. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. The International Green Urbanism conference series is a global platform dedicated to advancing innovative thinking and practice in sustainable, resilient, and regenerative urban development. It brings together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and urban stakeholders to exchange knowledge and address the complex environmental and social challenges shaping cities today.
The 10th edition is hosted at Sapienza University of Rome, in a city where urban transformation has unfolded continuously across centuries.
